Acts 9:17
So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
As the year 2023 approaches, people are making resolutions for change. The process even extends to throwing away the old things to make room for the new. How do we approach the new year with a heavenly vision or a clear focus to walk in the light of Jesus? According to the Bible, "the eye is the light of the body."
Ananias, the messenger of the Lord, was sent by the Lord to seek out Saul, later known as Paul. Upon greeting "Saul," Ananias laid his hands on him. The laying on of hands was for the purpose of impartation and healing. Paul physically received his sight by having the "scales" fall off his eyes. The scales of ignorance and arrogance were exchanged spiritually for divine vision and receiving the Holy Spirit. We receive the characteristics of God when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. [Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and Self-Control] We are also dipped into the miraculous gifts, power, and fire of the Holy Spirit when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. As soon as Saul/Paul saw again, he was presented with insight and interpretation of God's heart and mind for many nations as revealed through heavenly prophetic insight.
Our inner light is the fire of the Holy Spirit. We are filled with the light of that fire when we have spent time in the presence of God through prayer and reading His Word on a daily basis. God reveals new revelations to us each day for each task and every need we face. Those who allow God's fiery light to shine into their hearts will be able to drive out the darkness and give this light to others. It is important to note that if they reject the light, the darkness within them will grow even darker.
We are cleaning out the clutter to prepare for a fresh start in the new year. Rather than letting the clutter inside us block the light coming from Jesus, let us pray for new vision and an impartation of the fire of the Holy Ghost within us.
Let’s Pray,
Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I ask Lord to remove the scales from my eye so I can see 2023 with clear vision with a heavenly purpose. Reveal what needs to go to make room for a fresh impartation of your Holy Spirit. Ignite the fire within me to push out all darkness; allow me to share your light with others. Open my eyes to Your heart and mind so I may see You clearly through your word. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Luke 11:33
33 “No one lights a lamp and then puts it in a cellar nor under a basket [hiding the light], but [instead it is put] on the lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 The eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive, focused on God], your whole body also is full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. But when it is bad [spiritually blind], your body also is full of darkness [devoid of God’s word]. 35 Be careful, therefore [make sure], that the light that is in you is not darkness. 36 So if your whole body is illuminated, with no dark part, it will be entirely bright [with light], as when the lamp gives you light with its bright rays.”
Psalm 146:8
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous [the upright in heart].
