Enlightenment

Psalm 18:28 (NKJV)

For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

We've all had times when somebody explains something to us and our reaction is "Yes, I know...". After the expert leaves or we are caught up in a stressful situation, we realize that we don't know the answer. When it comes to our relationship with God, many of us feel that way. We are convinced that we already know that when we are in a desperate situation and don't know how to proceed, we turn to God for guidance.

There are moments dark shadows gradually blow away our confidence or contentment, which makes us realize we had better step up and take action. Our preparations for this time were inadequate. It is a disappointment that what we expected to be the end result has backfired, which leaves us feeling alone and asking "Where are you, God?" You may not have realized that your darkness may be caused by a lack of knowledge, but did you ever consider this possibility?

Truth be told, we don't know everything. However, we weren't prepared for everything. With the tools provided in the Bible, we can cope with life's ups and downs, no matter how unexpected. We cannot move forward triumphantly toward victory if we are stuck in our ways stubbornly rejecting knowledge saying, "I know.." The cause of darkness is the failure to follow the instructions given by God that were ignored.

The beauty of turning back to God is you are a "chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9) God light is His knowledge in the word for His instructions are your guide and protection in all things. As we repent, we reposition ourselves to be obedient to the truth in His word, His will, His way. Watch the darkness flee, the light of a new day. His mercies in the morning, great is His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23).

Father, we thank you for your faithfulness to the light You provide in Your word. Deliver us from a hardened heart and mind. Give us a teachable heart, mind, and spirit that we may follow in Your way so the walls that separate us from you may come crashing down. You are our light that guides, we follow with endurance. In Jesus' Name, Amen
